The Christian fashion brand Christian is named the best man of the 2012 US presidential election by a panel of judges, the company announced Wednesday.
Christian founder and CEO Robyn Givens is chosen to the award by a distinguished group of fashion designers and editors from the US Fashion Institute, a nonprofit organization that aims to promote and advance Christian values in fashion.
The judges were members of the fashion press, editorial staff and editors at publications including The Wall Street Journal, GQ, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar and Glamour.
They chose Givins for the award after a three-year process that began with the selection of a final winner, The Associated Press reported.
In an interview with The Associated Post, Givans said the award was a gift for her and her family.
Givens said she chose the award because she felt it was important to celebrate Christian values by honoring women.
“It was a tough decision, but it was the right thing to do for us,” she said.
“I believe that our society needs to be able to celebrate the human condition and the beauty of women, and it is important that we celebrate our own humanity, and I hope that you will see that reflected in the award.”
Givins said she was thrilled to be nominated.
“This award is an honor that I will never forget and one that I am very proud of,” she told the AP.GIVENS is the first female fashion designer to be chosen as the best woman.
In a statement, the fashion institute said the judges chose Giver as the winner because of her commitment to diversity and inclusion.
“We recognize that fashion is a powerful force for good in the world, and we know that Givkins’ leadership is essential to the success of our mission,” the statement read.
“The fashion industry can do much more to celebrate its diverse workforce and its inclusion in the fashion scene, and Giv’s accomplishments will help us continue to make that happen.”
