Domingo Garcia is a Mexican designer whose works have been on the runway for decades.
His designs have influenced fashion houses from New York to London, but his best-known collection, the Dead Fashion Design Collection, has been a mainstay of the fashion world since 1982.
Garcia, who died Thursday, was a fashion designer, photographer, illustrator, photographer-maker, and designer of jewelry, furniture, and other products.
Garcia died at age 99.
Garcia’s daughter, Maria, posted a photo on Instagram with a caption that read: I am so proud to say that I am Domingos first husband.
We were blessed to meet when he visited us in Mexico City.
My husband, Carlos, and I have always loved our work and he was the reason why we made our mark in the industry.
He was the one who instilled love in us.
He inspired us to be the best and the most amazing that we can be.
He never asked us to do anything for anyone.
He always wanted us to make things for others and to have fun doing it.
He wanted to be proud of what we did.
He is a very special person.
I would like to share with you that his work and the people who love him have brought happiness to many people.
I can’t express enough how grateful I am for his kindness, his love and his generosity.
He left us all with a huge sense of joy, a sense of freedom, and a sense that he will always be in our hearts and a part of our lives forever.
I love you Domingon.
Maria Garcia, Domingito Garcia’s wife, wrote on Instagram that she was devastated to hear of Garcia’s passing: I will always love you.
He’s not only one of the best designers to ever do the Dead fashion design, he was also one of our most devoted and dedicated family members.
His death leaves us all in tears.
Maria said Garcia passed peacefully.
